The following op- portunities are only a few of the numerous choices available at the North Shore Information and Volunteer Centre. HISTORIANS. A North Shore museum needs a patient, sociable gallery aide with an interest in his- tory to take attendance and observe the public in its gallery. Hours are Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. with other times available. Training and orientation provided. GOOD communication skills and enthusiasm are required in fill- ing this position of division leader for a heart foundation. The volun- teer will participate in recruiting, training and supervising volunteers for the heart fund. Areas that are particularly in need are Norgate, Pemberton Heights, Westview and North Van City. Hours are flexible until the end of February. ENJOY children? A responsible creative child-care supervisor (over 25 years) is needed one evening per month to decide on activities, crafts, etc. for a child-care pro- gram. Assistants to the supervisor will implement the program. Hours are one Thursday evening per month from 6:45 to 8:45. CAREGIVER support group needs a number of volunteers to assist with fund saising (casinos, auctions, etc.), public relations, workshops and office work. Vol- unteer should be over 45 years and understand the needs and challenges of senior citizens. Ori- entation provided. Hours are flex- ible. A PATIENT supportive male is wanted to befriend a non-verbal mentally-handicapped man who is very active and enjoys music and Fulton Centre holds fair THE MARGARET Fulton Centre will open its doors to the public during its annual open house and craft fair. The events will take place on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 20 and 21 from | to 3 p.m. in the cen- tre, located in the auditorium of St. Andrews Church at IIth and St. Georges in North Vancouver. The Margaret Fulton Centre “provides a cheerful, friendly at- mosphere for seniors and adults who suffer from chronic physical, mental or sensory impairment. Members may attend one or sever- al days a week, The program includes music, card games, a fitness session, cur- rent events and a variety of special events. All activities are fully supervised by a trained, full-time stat! and assisted by volunteers. One of the highlights every day is the hot lunch, which brings the group together and provides an opportunity to socialize. The staff at Margaret Fulton Centre includes a nurse, and transportation is pro- vided. The program is funded by the provincial government and grants are also provided by the City of North Vancouver, the District of North Vancouver and the Municipality of West Vancouver. Anyone interested in the pro- gram, or who knows of a friend or relative who could benefit from it, is invited to come to the open house and meet the staff and vol- unteers. MEALS on Wheels needs team captains to coordinate drivers, make out route sheets, phone drivers, handle receipts. This posi- tion is ideal for couples. Hours are on a rotating basis once every six weeks on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. Aliso needed are conscientious drivers with reliable wars to pick up and deliver hot meals to seniors. Orientation pro- vided. Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednes- day and Friday. Bring a friend and enjoy.
