ALL THREE North
Shore fire departments
had a quiet Christmas
season and that’s good
news for local
residents.

Only North Vancouver
District fire department is
reporting any significant fire
activity over the three-day
Christmas period, as firemen
were called on the extinguish
five separate chimney fires.

There was no fire damage
to houses in any of the five
incidents although all suf-
fered varying degrees of
smoke damage.

Both North Vancouver
and West Vancouver say
they had few emergency calls
over the holidays.

In lhght of the chimney
fires, fire prevention of-
ficials are urging residents to
take care when using fire«
places and to ensure that
chimneys have been cleaned.
