Mike Davies of Maple Ridge, Pierre Gagnen of Chilliw: ck, Mike Andrews of North Vancouver, and Jane Dick of Vancouver, were vlected te the board at the association's recent annual general mecting. The four new members were clected to two-year terms and will join nine other members of the ESSA board who are in the middle of their terms. ESSA is 2 non-profit orga- nization established in 1988 to support Emergency Social Services volunteers and com- munities and prepare their social services plans for response in the event of an emergency. Mike Andrews is a marine atrendant for TransLink (SeaBus). His FSS training experience includes the ESSD course and component training in registration and inquiry, personal services, meeting and greeting; and the role of a service provider, He has taken emergency management courses and has attended five reception cen- tre simulation activations on the North Shore and two in Vancouver. Andrews was the primary ESS contact at-the Provincial Field Response Centre-S.W. that was opened in late spring to prepare for the potentizi flooding of the Fraser river. He also acts as 2 fizst-aid - component co-ordinator for _ St. John Ambulance. Don Pullen of North Vancouver has been re- -elect- ed vice-president of-ESSA for the coming year. Pullen joined the ESSA board in 1992 and has served as vice- president for the past two years. ° He has also taken the ESS . Directors course at the Justice Insticute and served for many years as the emer- _ fency transportation coordi- ‘nator for North and West Vancouver. He relinquished that position a few years ago, but continues to act as the current coordinator’s ° alter- nate, There are close to 6,006 citizens who are registered and trained to provide ESS response in) communities throughout British Columbia.
