“seminars by the Street Proofing

Our Kids society (SPOK) on

Saturday, Dec. 16.

SPOK will teach kids aged 5-12
basic street smarts, like how to iden-
tify a potentially dangerous situation,

. and give tips on how to safely deal
with strangers. Based on threat esca-
lation, the children learn appropriate
responses as the situation deteriorates
~~ what to shout or evasive kicking

learn how to hurl themselves on the
ground without injury, and kicking
and screaming for maximum effect.
SPOK creator Frank Olson said in
a news release that “our society is
stricken by a plague of sexual abuse
and abduction...if we don’t stop this
cycle of violence against our chil-
dren, who will?” Olson has appeared
on the television show America's

Most Wanted and is recognized as an -

expert on child abuse.
Ofson also touches on abuse,
empowering the child to speak out
