Plan ahead O Visit less crowded areas and avoid rush-hour traffic. O) Travel off-season whenever possible. J Take scenic, less-congested routes and enjoy Canada’s natural beauty. 9 At your destination, plan walking or cycling activi- ties whenever possible. Be a good guest 1 Learn about your destination. ‘TF Respect local rules and regulations, 9 Leave your destination looking better than you found it, and treat all plant and animal life with respect. Avoid littering. Use your imagination & Visit lesser-known destinations to prevent over-use. © Volunteer for clean-up and restoration projects. ©) Be environmentally aware in your own neighbor- hood and help travellers treat your local environment with respect. “We believe each of us can take steps to ensure we don’t harm the envirenment while travelling,’’ says ‘Libby Brown, public affairs officer at BCAA. “Large numbers of visitors can have a harmful effect, particularly on sensitive recreational areas.
