Ali Sadr-Semnani, 32, was found collapsed in a Lillooet tewer hallway on the evening of May 9. The North Vancouver man was pronounced dead on arrival at Lions Gate Hospital. According to the North Vancouver RCMP, Sadr- Semnani died as a8 result of u single knife wound to the neck which severed his carotid artery. The artery carries blood to the brain from the heart. A suspect was arrested at the apartment complex on the night of the homicide. He was kept in police custody for 24 hours before being returned to Riverview Hospital. The suspect has been an involuntary patient of the psychiatric hospital since 1991, according te police. At the time of the murder, pelice say, the suspect was out of Riverview on a temporary pass. The suspect’s name was not released as he was not formally charged with an offence to press time. The North Vancouver RCMP completed their investi- gation last week and sent their charge recommendations in a report to Crown counsel in North Vancouver.
