SIGN OFF THE OWNER of a North Van- couver District auto business says he is disappointed that the district has made him take down a sign in front of his building at 1790 Marine Dr. because it does not conform to area signage guidelines. . ‘Ron Lawless, president of Wheels Aviomotive Sales Ltd., said district staff told him to remove one of his business signs because, whiie it does conform with all sign bylaw regulations, it does not meet the Marine Drive signage guidelines, ‘The guidelines .state that ‘signage should enhance a build- ing’s architectural! features with careful attention to detail, materi- al, size and location, and redun- dancy should be avoided,’” said Lawless. He added. that because his business is located on a corner lot, “it seems only logical that our full legal name should be visible from both streets.” .“These are tough economic times for all of us in business, large or -small. Is it really too much to ask of our elected of- ficials and city employees that they try to assist us rather than obstruct our efforts?’ asked Lawless.
