The pilot for On Call will com- prise four half-hour segments deal- ing with various aspects of heart disease. All four will be taped Monday, Dec. 12 in front of a live studio audience. Dates for airing the programs will be announced following the initial taping. Tickets for the show, which are free, can be picked up at LGH’s admission desk prior to the taping and will also be available Dec. 12 at CBC’s studio 41 if there are any seats remaining. LGH doctors will be featured as special guest panelists on each of the public education shows and they will field questions from the studio audience. Depending on the success of the first four programs, two additional four-part programs could be Pro- duced and televised in the joint medical health awareness initiative of LGH and CBC. The pilot is being sponsored by the CBC and ICI Pharmaceuticals along with LGH’s Medical Staff Association and the hospital’s community education comunittec. “It’s really exciting,’? Smith added that the topic of the pilot is extremely timely: ‘‘The number one killer is heart disease.” The first segment of the series will focus on hardening of the arteries and will feature LGH fam- ily physician Dr. Suzanne Montemuro as a guest panelist. Subsequent segments will exam- ine hypertension with guest panel- ist Dr. Warren Mayo, head of LGH’s intensive care ward; heart attacks, with new LGH car- diologist Dr. John Imrie; and strokes with featured guest panelist Dr. Barry Purves, an LGH neuro- surgeon. The shows will be co-produced by Spalding Production Ltd. and the CBC on behalf of LGH.
