Guess Watches that come in a
variety of shapes and colors, sell-
ing for $55 each.

The watches are available at the
Bay, Eaton’s, Sears and other fine
clothing and accessory retailers.

The distributor of Guess Wat-
ches is Carolyn Sales Inc.,
established in 1981 by a group of
independent Canadian business
people.

Carolyn Posen, president of
Carolyn Sales, is a pharmacist by
profession having worked for
Tamblyn and Boots Drug stores
for eight years as a buyer and then
as merchandise manager.

As merchandise manager, she
was responsible for all buying
across Canada for the phar-
maceutical and beauty/fashion
divisions. Posen is a past member
of the Board of Directors of Boots
and an executive director of the
Ontario Pharmacists Association.

Some of the other products
handled by Carolyn Sales include:
Mona professiona! nail care line,
children’s licensed bath toiletries
including Care Bears, Princess of
Power, Barbie, Masters of the
Universe, Transformers, G.I. Joe
and Mad Ball, DuCair products
and Jordache.

Carolyn Sales acquired the
Guess watch line in 1985 and cur-
rently distributes Guess sungiasses,
as well. The company plans to
handle additional Guess accessory
lines in the future.

The Guess watch movements are
manufactured in Switzerland, with
the rest of the watch manufactured
and assembled in Hong Kong. The
watches are characterized by
sophisticated styling, brass casing.
crystal faces, leather bands. Guess
movements are repairable.

A very up-to-date woman who is
in a hurry to live life to the full, to
be elegant and beautiful — this is
the woman Gerard Pipart bas in
mind for his winter 1986/87 col-
lection.

Naturally, the techniques change
from one line to the other, but as
the day advances the look becomes
more sophisticated, with great at-
tention paid to charming details,
passing, for example, from — big,
ankle-length redingote to a short,
figure-hugging dress whose slim
waist is enhanced by a_ wide,
elaborate belt.

Another high spot of the collec-
tion is the easy transition from ca-
sual panne velvet sweaters to fitted
strapless tops, or from a long
belted cardigan-jacket to a short
little spencer.

and thanks to plunging effects is as
attractive from the front as the
profile, and photogenic from the
back as weil as the front.

If Pipart casually presents two
such different lines, he does it with
a touch of humor. For a
redingote-dress or skirt outfit, the
coat is larger and long, and the
dress underneath is short and sim-
ple.

The evening is a fairyland of
gowns for gala occasions, with ex-
travagant styles in gold and silver
brocade, or sparkling lames, not
forgetting the nostalgic dresses
reminiscent of Second Empire
feats which are nevertheless totally
up-to-date,

tulle —- a touch of magic. The
evening finale is a dazzling display
of multi-colored flower dresses.
