Four people appeared recently in provincial court in North Vancouver over a three-week period on chargesjof failing to report income; while collecting benefits. Glen Lewis, of 222 Lawa Street, in North Vancouver, pleaded guilty to 15 counts of fraud against UIC. Court heard he was employed on the waterfront while collecting UIC, between November 1981 and May 1982. He was fined $200 on each count, Judge John Layton ordered that the fine must be paid by July 1! and that in default he will serve seven _ days imprisonment on each ‘of the 15 counts, the sen- tences to run consecutively. Gregory Ralph Scrnmbit. of 117 East 27th Street, in North Van, pleaded guilty to seven counts of defrauding UIC by failing to declare work and earnings while he was on a claim. Prosecution evidence showed he worked for three employers while collecting during October 1981 and September 1982, as a con- struction laborer, an in- sulator and a_ landscape laborer. He was fined a total of $800 - $100 per count for six offences and $200 for the seventh. The fines are to be paid by April 8, with 21 days in default. Dale John Redekop. of 1718 Riverside Drive, North Van, pleaded guilty to six counts of fraud by failing to report he was receiving benefits from another source while collecting UIC. Judge Layton fined him $300 per count, with an order that the $1,800 total be paid by August 1, or seven days’ jail consecutive for each count, in default. A woman who worked as a trust company clerk while collecting UIC benefits between April and October last year was sentenced to serve one day in jail and was fined a total of $200. Chery!
