With an icing decorator,
she squeezed out the clay,
one spaghetti-like strand at a
time, and massed them to
form the bulk of the muskox,
a style that was to become
distinctive in many of her
later animals.

Born and = raised in
Thunder Bay, Ms. McLaren
studied home economics for
four years at the University
of Guelph, did research for a
year, and then, as she puts it
