At VGH there are roughly
thirty vacancies in staff of all
in-patient disciplines, and
approximately 607 nurses
were off sick late last week,
out of a nursing population
of over 1300. In addition,
‘relief or casual staff are
needed for all areas.
Registered Nurses are asked
to apply, either for per-
manent or casual work.

VGH’s patient population
is at a seasonal high. Patient
census Monday in adult
acute care beds at the
hospital was 1,352, more
than 95 per cent occupancy.
Normal . occupancy rates
vary from.85% per cent to 95 . ~
per cent, with numbers of.
available beds on a given day
averaging from 50 to 100.
