The L.A. trie was recording its first self-titled album and still trying to decide ona suitable moniker for the band when a re- run for the popular sci-fi show gave thent the handle they were looking for. “It was an episode with these clones, all named Eve,” says ~ drummer and backup vocalist Tony Fagenson. “They each had their own cells with their names over the door, The erazy, psy- cho one was named Eve 6, It just bit us right then.” _ With their recently-released sophomore effort Herrorsrape, however, the band proves it’s far tram a clone. Eve 6's sound resonates with the same high-energy rifts and hooks as Creed, Third Eve Blind and Bink 182, but this band has its own message. It’s worth listening to. The two founding members —. vocalist, bassist and chief songwriter Max Collins and guitarist/vocalist Jon Sichels — met at their L.A.-area high school when they were just 15, After shedding other members, the two welcomed Fagenson into the “fold two years later. Enter recipe for band longevity: nwo parts camaraderie, nwo : parts co-operation, one part successful negotiation. “That's one of the cool things about the band is that we all “really mutually respect each other and are good friends in and out of the band,” said Fagenson, The three were signed to RCA before they even had their ‘diplomas. The debut album was certified platinum, produced . the ‘teen angst-anthems “Inside Out” and “Leech” and made Eve 6 the official new band of the moment. “We just made a record that we wanted to ‘make and we ; thought sounded good to lis at the time and we hoped that pea- “ple our age would like it,” said Fagenson. “We thought that if “We got itinto the right hands and the right people heard it that people would probably dig it.
