Did the BCMA speak out when the Mulroney govern- ment started cutting transfer payments from 50 cents on the dollar to the point now north shore news MAIL Box service solidarity needed where Chretien has reduced them to 10 cents? Has the BCMA spoken out against immigration that brings more people to our province at a time when the unemployment rate is high? Has anvone heard a word of understanding from the MDs when postal workers were legislated to do 25% longer walks for 2% more pay? And were doctors’ voices raised as a body against the drug patent legislation sever- al vears ago which denied availability of low cost, generic drugs? There is no need for com- petition for production of great quantities of unneces- sary products, and no need for competition to see how much profit can be squeezed out of helpless workers. There is need for solidari- ty berween people who pro- vide necessary services to other people.
