CHARGES are pending against two West Van men
_ after police seized 64 marijuana plants and four rifles
on Tuesday at a house on Glengarry Crescent in the
British Properties. The marijuana, worth $70,000, was

grown with hydroponic equipment. The suspects
were released. ;

THE North Van Mounties
are warning the public about &
two scammers passing them-
selves off as Squamish Nation
members in order to rip-off
hotels and taxi drivers in the
Lower Mainland.
The men are described as
“native looking.” —
They have recently fraudu-
_lently obtained services from three North Shore hotels, five
Vancouver hotels and one taxi conipatny.
Police say the financial loss is “substantial” to the busi-
nesses, Business staff should ask for identification and con-
tact the Squamish Nation band office to confirm informa-

tion. Anyone with information about the fraud case is,

asked to call the North Van RCMP’s Economic Crime Unit
at 985-1311. ”

Fake cop cases places

A Lynn Valley senior tet a woman posing as a police officer
into her home on May 18. .

The bogus cop walked around the entire house before
she left, according to a North Vancouver RCMP
spokesman,

' Nothing was missing from the home.

Police believe the bogus cop was “casing” the house for
a future burglary,

The bogus cop got into the home after telling the scnior
that she was assisting the elderly in home security, The
bogus cop flashed “something like a badge.”

The suspect is described as Caucasian with dark blue
clothing and a green baseball hat. She left in a late model
dark-colored car. -
