Youths perform TWO NORTH Shore youths will be among 90 musicians who will perform with this year’s National Youth Orchestra tonight at The Orpheum. Chosen from more than 500 young Canadians who audi- tioned are Aya Mi yagawa, 15, and Michiko Singh, 24, both of North Vancouver. The world-class youth orches- tra, which engages the talents of young people aged 14 to 26, wraps up a tour of 11 cities with a performance in Victoria this weekend during the XV Commonwealth Games. The students spent the month of July in Guelph, training under the world-renowned maestro Kazuyoshi Akiyama from Tokyo. Tonight’s concert begins at 8 p.m, Tickets: $12.50 for adults, $7 for students and seniors. Kids discover aris in action THIS SATURDAY morning let someone else entertain your children. West Vancouver Parks and Recreation presents “Arts in Action," a summer drop-in pro- gram where young children and their parents can participate in hands-on crafts and art activities. The theme is “Nature and Me” for this Saturday’s session, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at West Van’s Jahn Lawson Park.
