NSWER: During the heating season, save on ener-
gy costs by lowering the thermostat setting to 65 degrecs F.
during the day and 60 degrees F. at night.

Don’t set the thermostat at a warmer than normal
setting when you first turn up the heat; the house will not
warm up faster. ‘The same applies when cooling the home.

Check the ductwork of a forced air heating and
cooling system for leaks, especially at connection points.

Prevent excessive entry of cold or hot outdoor air
by weather-stripping doors and wiitows and caulking
cracks and openings around their frames.

Keep windows shut and minimize traffic through
outside doors. Keep storm windows and doors in place dur-
ing the air conditioning scason.

During the winter, keep draperies and shades open
in sunay windows, close them at night.

During the cooling season, kecp out daytime sun
with vertical louvres or awnings on the outside of your
windows, or draw draperies, blinds and shades indoors.

Keep your fireplace damper tightly closed unless
you have a fire going, so that warm room air doesn’t §

escape up the chimney.

Install glass doors on your fireplace to reduce heat
loss up the chimney. You can still enjoy the warmth of the

fire,

Don’t place lamps or TV sets near an air condition-
ing thermostat. Heat from these appliances could cause the
air conditioner to run longer than necessary.

Have compressor serviced yearly to assure proper

refrigerant levels etc.

Filters must be cleaned or replaced every 2-3

months.
