Station Sq., Coquitlam aad Clear- brook cinemas) HEN THE Black Plague strikes in L.A., there’s only one victim. The on-stage death of Bobby Black (Motley Crue’s Vince Neil), lead singer of the metal group Black Plague, triggers a mystery than can be solv- ed only by Ford Fairlane (Andrew Dice Clay). An oid musician partner turned bad-boy Deejay Johnny Crunch (Gilbert Gottfreid), hires Mr. Rock’n‘Roll Detective to locate a groupie named Zuzu Petals. Since he’s actually being paid in cash and not in the gald records or koala bears that his rock clients usually fob off on him, Ford takes the case. His little victory dance outside the radio station (one of the very few funny bits) is short circuited by Johnny’s on-air elec- trocution. Weaithy, humorless Colleen Smith (Priscilla Presley) also hires Ford to find Zuzu, During the in- TIM BELL film review vestigation, the rocker is up to his duck’s tail in corruption, crude quips, cigarettes and CDs. But who cares about plot? That's not what people are coming to see. The movie is being sold on the controversial personality of the Diceman. His stand-up routine of gay-bashing. women-hating and general anti-anything-that-ain’t-C lay viewpoint is reviled by even other bad-boy comics like Sam Kinnison. Here, however, the nastiness has been watered down con- siderably. He makes a few jokes- for-the-john {usually at the ex- pense of ‘‘bimbos’’), but the hos- tility is brushed off as a distancing technique. That’s right — this posturing P.J. is really a pussycat. He has pater- nal feelings for an orphan and he even admits to his much abused assistant that he loves her. Yeah, sure. But even more offensive is the Rogers thinks small From page 21 His latest feat was a miniature log cabin which he built as a house-warming gift for a customer whose friend had just bought a log cabin. But most people buy his cre- ations because they remind them of the past, he says. Roger's hobby — he’s adamant about keeping it a hobby — began 30 years ago when he built his first dol!’s house for his daughter. When his wife died 2% years ago he began making more houses and antique reproduction furniture until he ran out of space for it in his home. That’s when he decided to start selling it. On Oct. 20 and 21 he'll be displaying his wee work at the Na- tional Porcelain Doll Show at the Richmond Inn. Although his mini-creations are commundin, wore and more at- . tention, Rogers is determined to keep his world a smalf one. “1 don’t want to get to the point where I'm mass-producing it,” he says, “I take great pride in what I do and I do it with feeling. | just want to fill in my time, take my time, and enjoy doing it.” WHAT’S IN YOUR NAME? It holds the key to your happiness! DAVID @ TRACY °¢ Most names are chosen because the parents like the sound of the frame, not realizing that it creates one's degree of intelligence, per- sonality, desires and environment. Although the above names do create some good qualities, they are far outweighed by their fimitations. Briefly, these names create technical, mechanical, and scientific capabilities. The individuals are systematic, self-willed, patient in- dependent, and hard workers. They are “straight-to-the-point’’in speech, lack imagination, and have limited musical and artistic ability. If the sur- name is very musical then what they could develop would be technically good, but nol artistically expressive. People with these names are very fussy over details and lack versatill- ty. They cannot visualize, are skep- tical, and it is difficult to appeal to them through sympathy. They are headstrong and ofien domineering, tearning through ex- perience rather than analysis Parents lind them very difficult to discipine. They are not fond of sociability and tind 1 difficult to ex- press their inner feelings Physical weaknesses uppear in the digestive system in a variety of ways — sometimes with growths Tension in the senses of the head can result in weak eyes, mastoid troubles, sinus problems early loss of hair, and headaches LINDA e RYAN °¢ LEE STEVEN if DAVID is mostly called DAVE he will show some different qualities — being much more versatile and quick-minded although some of the legal name qualities would still prevait. One is affected by every nickname and the surname used so a more complete name analysis is required to give the full nature of a person.
