Woman guil of arson A NORTH Vancouver woman was given a conditional discharge, put on probation for six months and ordered to do community work after pleading guilty to arson. Margaret Anne Chamberlain, 22, and three others were charged with mischief in relation to property following a June 11 incident where a 1974 Jensen Interceptor sports car belonging to Westminster Credit Union was set on fire. Charged with Chamberlain were North Vancouver residents Robert Balfour Logan, 22, and Eric John Brown, 24, and Van- couver resident John Campbell Watt, 39. In addition, Logan, Brown and Watt were charged with set- thig fire to personal property — the sports car — for fraudulent purposes. Watt) was further charged with attempting to . defraud Westminster Credit Union of more than $1,000 and causing police to start an investigation after he allegedly claimed that the Jensen Interceptor had been stolen, Logan pleaded guilty July 7 to mischief in relation to property and was sentenced to (hree months in jail. The other charge against him was stayed. Brown is slated to return to North Vancouver provincial court Aug. 10 after an adjournment to get counsel: Watt is slated for a preliminary hearing Nov. 8. Seymour Forest remains closed THE SEYMOUR Demonstration Forest remains closed te the public due to forest fire hazards in the area and GYRD officials say only a break in the warm weather will allow the area to reopen. Except for the Rice Lake area, the 5,600 hectare forest has been closed to hikers and cyclists for one week due to high temperatures and the increasing threat of a forest fire.
