This year’s classic will be held June 17. High seas adventure ACTION and adventure on the high seas, keen com- petition and riotous fun are what the annual North Shore News Sailing Race is all about. Set for Sunday June 17, the race offers something a little different from the usual sailing race. ‘“‘Our race attracts sailors just like me, cruisers, who would not otherwise have any chance to race.’’ says News Publisher Peter Speck. lt also offers a chance for young and old to get out and have fun. For a start, most crews dress up in costume, while some are notorious for coming in for water bomb attacks on unsuspecting vessels. And the awards emphasize the spirit of the day. The seventh annual race Starts at 10a.m. at Dun- darave Pier in West Van and the course goes to Lighthouse Park, Point Grey Bell Buoy, and finally to the finish line of Kitsilano Beach.
