B17 - Sunday, April 8, 1984 - North Shore News GS entertain crt Drama challenge begins Monday COMPETITION will be keen as North Shore drama groups meet this week at Presentation House, in the preliminaries to the Theatre B.C. finals in Penticton. By CATHERINE McGHEE Representatives from Deep Cove to the Sunshine Coast will present plays to be adjudicated by Touchstone Theatre artistic director John Cooper. One play will be selected to enter the competitive onstage performance at the B.C Fesuval of the Arts, during the week of May 14. However, two other plays will be selected to appear in the non-competitive portion of the Festival The local competition 1s a culmination of hard work and long hours by each par- ticipating group. Some choose to perform a produc- tion especially for the Festival, other submit one or more of their plays from their present season. It is a tame of nervous anticipation and ex- citement for the member groups and week-long quality entertainment for the au- dience, Imghhghting the best of local community theatre talent. OUTSIDE The North Shore Drama Festival opens Monday, April 9 at 8PM and continues to Saturday April 14. Ticket prices are $4 nightly and $5 for the Saturday Showcase evening.
