Dear Editor

As I returned home the
other Friday night about
11:30 p.m., 1 found my street
— a quiet, dead-end street —
overrun with young people
yelling, screaming, urinating,
stumbling to and from from
a neighbor’s house. I careful-
ly drove into my own drive-
way, only to discover that the
‘‘party’’ was in the house
next door. I became some-
what alarmed and suspicious
when I could hear so many
voices, so much foul
language, beer cans being
thrown around and the ugly
sound of a fight or ‘‘rum-
ble’’. Because I was alone, |!
was afraid to approach the
house alone, I decided to call
the police and file what they
call a ‘‘disturbing the quiet”’
complaint.

to parents as we approach the
festive season, that we, the
guardians of these teenagers,
show a little more courage in
exercising discipline with our
children which they will come
to respect — and it will make
our law-enforcing
policemen’s job more mean-
ingful in dealing with more
serious issues.
