14-North Shore News — Friday, May 19, 2000 NEWMUSICWEST 2000: HITS AND MISSES Crosst @ New Music West 2000: Starting early Thursday evening, first up on my itner- ary at The Cordova Cafe, the North Shore's Six Block Radius, a new punk rock uio with lots of potential (these girls kick ass). Next to Sonar for The Supreme Beings of Leisure from L.A., sweet. Quickly ducking into the Brickvard for a glimpse of Ocean 3, loud and heavy. Off and running to The Starfish Room, for my all time favourites The Spitfires, who played later in the evening at The Penthouse. These lads have come a long way, aad will be going somewhere. The Penthouse was the last stop, as I cruised through the doors Wow was on stage... great band, too bad about the vocals. The Las Vegas Crypt Keepers were one of the best bands I saw over the course of the festival. The band was tight, the songs had drive, hook and power — in your face rock and roll. JP5 was a big disap- peintment, despite being fresh off of a cross Canada tour, the band wasn’t on — they sucked — the guitar work was sloppy, the rhythm sec- tion blandered through the songs. Gerry Jenn’s voice was trashed, so was her set. @ Friday evening at The Commodore, I made it in time to shoot the last nwo songs Templar per- formed, not bad. Up next DSK one of the @ Nevada Magazine April 2000 $5.95 Arider explores the high country of northeastern Nevada in this bimonthiy published by the state. (DSK, a tough act to follow). Limbhifter (former members of Age Of Electric) headlined. The music is very radio-friend- ly pep rock, somewhat generic, no boundaries crossed here. @ Sacurday during the day, the North Shore hosted a day of music and fun in the sun.
