the hike, the mystery
was solved,

And what a codl, retresh-
ing solution it revealed,

A natural swimming pool,
Mount Seymour Provineial
Park's Mystery Lake is one of
those untamed wonders nes-
tled just minutes from the
concrete jungte that compel
you to Whoop with joy, lose
your shorts and dive headlong
into Mama Nature,

And as E approached
Mystery Lake ona recent hot
afternoon, four naked revelers
and their dog were doing just
that. With a natural cock jetty
and several large flat rocks
ringing the sparkling clear
water, Mystery Lake is the
perfect piace tora coal moun-

- tain plunge.

right beneath the Mystery

on smoking hot days (as this

isn’t too exhausting, And It's
just half an hour to get there,

Once there, you can do
the lizard-thing and bask on
one of the many rock tables
that ring the lake, or you can
take the plunge (the rock jerry
in the middle of the lake is a
good place, but the best place
is by the water’s edge on the
western side of the lake).

The trail continues past
the fake, and 10 minutes
walking along the route will
take you to the base of the
Brockton Chair,

If you're the type that likes
a hike with a view, veer off |
the trail just past the lake en
route to Brockton Chair and
scramble to the top of the
racks on the eastern side of
the trail,

The view of Mt. Baker and
Indian Arm provides a per-
spective unique to the Lower,
Mainland, On a elear day, you
can also pick up the Fraser
River from way out in the val-
ley and follow its serpentine
route to the coast.
