Other main course entrees inciude Fraser Valley veal chop, Baby Arctic char with roasted cashews and orange teriyaki vinaigrette; and Grilled Washington state New York steak with oven roasted garlic, blue cheese profiterole and demi glace. Nightly fresh sheets — complete with suggested wine selections — add another dimension to the Salmon House repertoire. Entrees are not cheap. They go for $14 on up to $20, but you get what yo:: pay for. Diners with aversions to big-ticket entrees need go no ’ further than the Safnan House appetizer selection ($5 to $11). Start, for example, with a Salmon House sampler of aldergrilled and smoked salmon. It comes with chut- neys, relishes, salsas, roulade, chipotle and salmon cream cheese. All for $10.95. Or get a plate of Baby back ribs with Wild West bar- becue sauce and bourbon molasses baked beans ($7.95). Better still try the Dungeness Crab appetizer. It features fresh crab meat in a small bowl of cheddar and asi- ago dip that is enlivened with wne'and: green chilies and lime aioli. Table Hopping’s order came with an excellent assors- ment of homemade chips: brilliant scarlet beet, purple corn; deep vellow Yucca and Tarot root. All deep-fried and wafer thin. Great dipping tools. Main entrees were similarly impressive. The prawns were sautced in a rich sundried tomato sauce. Adding to its complexi- ty were fresh lemon and a robust roasted garlic pesto. Elsewhere on the plate were rice and a saute of juli- enne carrots, red cabbage, bok choy and red and green bell eppers. . The ‘black cod, meanwhile, came with a mild wasabi (Japanese horseradish) cream and balsamic, mustard seed vinaigrette. A wonderful com- bination that did justice to what is one of B.C.’s best, but most misused, eating fish. The Salmon House’s wine list is extensive ($20 to $60 and beyond) with strong rep- resentation from B.C., California and the rest of the Pacific Northwest.
