Tickets 280-44-44, at the Savoury Island Pie Co. or at the door. John Goodman This Weck Editor FOR the past two and a half years Adam Woodall and bandmates John Milne and Chris Relling have performed every Wednesday night at West Vancouver’s Savoury Island Pie Co. In fact, they like the gig so much they named their band after the bistro. The place is packed for the night with the audience lined up along the wall joining in on some songs. “It’s very cozy —we always tell people to come early,” says Woodall. Tomorrow the trio steps out of their usual space for a spe- cial one-off gig with Truck at West Vancouver’s Masonic Hall. The latter band includes Tom Taylor and David Hughes from North Shore favourites She Stole My Beer. The larger hall gives Woodall a chance to try out material from his new CD Songs From My Parents’ House, set for release next month. “I just wanted to make a CD that some- one, will put on and play from beginning to end.” - Ex-Gaunch Messiah Bob McMahon is producing with ; NEWS ‘Sprout ‘cwww.eyelecser.con/sprou> e-mail “aproutbe@hotmelcom SAVOURY island Pie Company Band (left to right) John Milne, Adam Woodall, quest guitarist Dave Sikula and Chris Relling in performance at the West Vancouver bistro (1533 Marine Drive) that gave them their name. Jesse Zubot (fiddle), Paul Rigby (peda! steel) and Guido Thylmann (drums) among the musicians contributing to the sessions. The collaborative aspect of an ensemble interacting on real instruments fascinates Woodall. “Daniel Lanois once said that most of the great music is Jeft unfinished.” Collaborators add their own ideas to complete a composi- tion. Each performance of a piece creates something new. Woodall’s interest in group dynamics extends to another side project. He’s singer/guitarist with the Neurotics a cover band specializing in British Invasion tunes from the *60s. The band (Sebastian de Castell on piano/guitar; Dave Haddock on bass and Eduardo de la Vega on drums) are booked through the end of the year. The Young Presidents’ Organization booked the Neurotics for a party on Grouse a few months ago and liked them so much they flew them co St. Louis for their next meeting. The band played in a 200-year-old bara for a select audi- ence of about 100 people. . The success isn’t going to Woodall’s head however and he'll be back on Marine Drive next Wednesday night. “You don’t have to call anybody to be there,” says the singer/gui- tarist. “It’s just one of those magical gigs. We'll keep the date as long as they let us.” 08 OR REFUSAL CHARGE? You only have 7 days.
