Developer appeals to NVC for higher density §

15-storey Lower Lonsdale condo project

for an approved North Vancouver
City highrise may be considered
by city council after council
members heard Monday night that
market demands for more afford-
able homes make the higher densi-
ly Necessary.

567 Lonsdale Ave. in November
1990. Its 25 units were broken
down to three one-bedroom
apartments, 20 two-bedroom
apartments, and two two-
bedroom, plus den
units.

Representatives of the devel-
oper, Fama Holdings Ltd., asked
council Monday night to consider
allowing the company to increase

the number of the condominium’s
units to 34: 10 one-bedroom and
24 two-bedroom apartments.
Council agreed to send the pro-
posal to city staff for a report.
Project manager Kelly Gesner
said the proposed changes would
all be internal, except for four
additional balconies and more
windows in the building.
Fama, she said,

plans no

changes to the building’s approved
height and square-footage.

All of the units would be made
smaller, Gesner said, to meet
market demands for smaller, more
affordable condominiums in the
city.

She added that sales at the
Fama-owned 15-storey Olympic
at 140 East Second St. show evi-
dence of this trend.
