GLOBE ’92 COUNT- DOWN THE GLOBE °92 trade show of- ficially opens its doors for the world on Monday at B.C. Place Stadium and the North Shore Economic Development Commis- sion (EDC), which will be occupy- ing booth 1310, is ready for business. The trade show is open from | p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday. B.C. Environment Minister Sohn Caskore and Capilano- Howe Sound MP Mary Collins will be on hand Monday to of- ficially open the EDC's booth from 1:30 to 1:45. Atso on hand will be the three North Shore mayors. Approximately 50 North Shore companies have agreed to be sponsors with the EDC and will have booths set up at the trade show. “All of our collective work has paid off. WOMEN IN BUSINESS OPTIONS FOR VOLUNTEERS ‘THE FOLLOWING is a selection of volunteer opportunities avail- able through North Shore Com- munity Services (NSCS). AN EDITOR with computer experience is needed to make cor-~- rections to the work of a writer who is blind. The volunteer will work on an IBM computer in the writer’s home and the hours are flexible. A SENIORS’ lodge requires a person with sewing skills to do alteravions and mending twice a montis. Materials, and often a small gratuity, are provided. A VOLUNTEER is also needed to assist a creative group of seniors with making craft items that are sold for fundraising. Hours are from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesdays. A PATIENT, friendly person who understands the needs of the physically handicapped is needed as a recreation assistant. It is a two-wheel-drive bicycle that transfers power from the rear tire to the front tire. It includes nylon gears with flexible rotating steel cables.
