Auction to benefit Kid's Fest THE VANCOUVER Children’s Festival has become beneficiary to some of Expo’s most newsworthy assets and will auction these at the Expo Assets Disposal Auction Oct. 29, Included will be some of the most memorable costumes from the Academy Award-nominated film Rainbow War, donated to the Children’s Festival by the Canadian Pacific Pavilion. The Blue King, Blue Prime Minister, Red King and Yellow Queen outfits will be on sale, as well as the yellow feather flying jacket worn by the film’s young hero, | DONALD FORBES, founder and musical director of the British Columbia Boys Choir, announced _ recently that the choir has received a grant of $37,500 from the B.C. Lotteries Fund. “We are thrilled to receive this grant which. will enable the choir to travel and perform in communities throughout the province,’’ Forbes said in a news release. _ “We are most grateful for the assistance we received from our local MLA for West Vancouver- Howe Sound, John Reynolds,’’ said Forbes. The choir will utilize the grant to assist with travel expenses for tours around B.C, Founded in 1968, the - British Columbia Boys Choir’ has become internationally acclaimed for its excellence and has toured Europe 1S times. Choir members, whose ages range from seven ‘to 24, live in communities all over the Lower Mainland. Many members travel long distances for the two-hour practice sessions, which are held three times each week. Practice sessions are held in fa- cilities at St. David’s United Church, 1525 Taylor Way, West Vancouver. The choir also rehearses in schools and at seniors’ centres. The set consists of a GM Pavil- ion profile, GM Pavilion Logo and the much-sought Spirit Lodge pin; a Rainbow War enamel; an Our British Columbia pin, plus a very rare Industrial Showmanship pin issued only to cast and crew members of this Challenge B.C. film.
