* Son fit for trial into mass murder: A2 | SEERA Se SS : SS pas Newsstand Price 50¢ THE VOICE OF NORTH AND WEST VANCOUVER Schreck now trails Davis in Seymour SOCIAL CREDIT would likely have won in all three North Shore ridings if the provincial election had been held last Thursday — a marked turn-around from the situation 10 days earlier when the NDP appeared to have a reasonable possibility of capturing one of the seats. This was the finding of a North Shore News poll conducted April 28. Among decided voters it showed an increased Socred lead in the dominant_West Vancouver portion of the West Van-Howe Sound riding and a reversal of the previous position in North Vancouver-Seymour — with Socred incumbent Jack Davis overtaking and outstrippng New Democrat David Schreck by eight percentage points. Meanwhile, in North Vancouver-Capilano the poll indicated that Socred incumbent Angus Rec. though still maintaining a comfortable lead, had lost NDP’s Olga Kempo com- pared to the earlier survey. In all three ridings the minor parties have also began to make modest inroads, according to last Thursday's poll. This was especially the case in West Van, where 12 per cent of the decided voters opted for the Liberals (six per cent), the Con- servatives (four per cent) and “others” (two per cent). The Socreds gained seven percentage points over their earlier showing — while NDP support dropped by a surprising 16 percentage points as against 10 days earlier.
