recycling depot, leaving

same thing wasn't going on
in the Ambleside area,
where a recycling program
also operates.

It was just the second day
of operation of the privately
run garbage’ collection
service, launched by West
Van in the belief that it
would be cheaper and more

began, there were howls of
protests from strata building
residents who had learned
their costs for garbage
removal were to triple.

The council was accused
of making savings to the
municipality by passing over
costs direct to specific
homeowners.

Meanwhile New Life
president Culver is won-
dering where he will get hold
of about 90 containers to
replace the ones destroyed,
in time for next week's
recycling pick-ups.

“We are going to have to
arrange for Hanl-Away to
replace them,” he says. “We
have some containers here
they can use but I don't
know if we have anything
like that many.”
