So when I came across Ken Dyck, a talented local pho- tographer, I was pleasantly surprised. Ken and his wife came to my canine training classes with their exuberant Doberman Lui. After each ‘elass we would exchange pleasantries. During one of ~ ithese conversations is where “I found out about his gift. Ken, his wife and Lui reside in West Vancouver. His black and white images are reminiscent of Ansel Adams. But what impressed me the most was his ability to photograph dogs. His regal looking Doberman is the subject of many of his prints, and his -- fondness for “shooting” dogs is evident in the way his photos capture a dog’s ~ personality. - ‘+. “Dogs are truly your F ae most honest, loyal friend and I enjoy the challenges of capturing each unique per- sonality on film,” Ken says. Ken specializes in black and white custom framed triptych presentations (series of three images) of dog por- traits. He enjoys shooting in this series format because the three photos often tell a story. ach photo captures a different stage of a dog’s personality, such as a lazy yawn, an amusing cock of the head or a playful jump in the air after a ball. The photos are then mounted and framed together as a beautiful piece of wall arc. And they’re all in focus and centred! But best of all, they are a classic ageless reminder we all want to have when our furry friends leave our side. Something I know I will treasure.
