It’s a half-size replica of a house first built ar Tsaxis “(Fort Rupert) in the mid-1800s by Chief Nakapenkim. Mungo Martin, an influential Kwakwaka’wakw carver, inher- ited and assumed Chief Nakapenkim's position and name. ~ Martin supervised the construction of the house in 1952- 1953. The style of construction of the original was faithfully copied.
