That’s because 55 students sent their stuffed animals packing on Nov. 28 last year — complete with a journal that would provide a record of their travels, “We had a farewell party for them. We served Sprite and toasted their travels,” said teacher Jenny Murdy. “The students then packed them each ina special shoebag with a journal con- taining photos and a written introduction to the teddy’s owner and: to’ West ‘, Vancouver, Off they went, on the first leg the Vitamin House Aids in muscle strength and endurance 1929 Lonsdale Ave, Power. mooriroof 200 watt, 3 CD sound syster "8 way driver's power $ seat. leather : * Alloy wheels Fog ‘Tights & spoiler Sport suspension: raction control & ABS « 5 speed or automatic ‘photos for proof ... From there, they were pass >4 on to travel in the fug- gage of other globetrotters. “Some of the children got postcards and souvenirs while the teddies were trav- clling,” Murdy said. But now that most of the animals have found their way home again, the children are finding out about their adventures by reading the journals. “Quite a few of them ended up at the Olympics in Nagano, some went to Australia, to Singapore. One «went to the Superbowl. We even have a picture of one teddy sticking out of someone’s pack in Mongolia,” Mardy said. “ft would be hard to believe all the places they’ve travelled, but we have the we have incredible with READING photos and stories.” Best of all, said Murdy, the children are getting an unbearable lesson in world geography. “They have more interest in learning, about the places where their teddies have been. It's made the World Cup more meaningful.” Last Friday, the students had a wel- come back party for the animals. Some of the students wore costumes or souvenirs fron: the countries where their teddies had travelicd. Some of the children at the party couldn’t welcome their stuffed animals home — they aren’t back yet. “Some have come back and are gone again,” said Murdy. Understandable, really.
