Lions Gate Relay

ON YOUR mark. It’s time to
get set for the second annual
Liens Gate Hospital 9-1-1
Relay, taking place this
Sunday at Ambleside Park
in West Vancouver.

But before you go, here are a
_ few tips to help you get the most
out of what will be an active, fun-
filled day.
Listen-to you body and set your
own pace,
nerease your energy with power
snack; during the day.
tr rganize your day with a check
ist. .

Nutrition is important, so cat a
good meal the night before and up
to two hours before the event.
Shoes and clothing should be com-
fortable.
Get plenty of rest the night before.
Avoid dehydration. Maintain a
steady intake of fluids throughout
the day.
Try to do a short warm-up before
the event. Do not forget the ‘cool
down’ afterwards.

Vancouver resident and four-time
Olympian. She is a co-host of the
CBC-TV program Cycle! and an
honorary chairperson of the 9-1-1
relay.

Participants of the Lions Gate
Hospital 9-1-1 Relay will take turns
walking, jogging or 1unning the
scenic two kilometre Ambleside
Park route.

Participants who will be driving
to the event are asked to park their
cars at the Park Royal Shopping
Centre. Parking facilities at
Ambleside wili be limited and
made available to the general pub-
lic.

Spectators are encouraged to
cheer on the relay participants.
Food, entertainment and children’s
activities will be available for all.
