which goes Sunday morning before
the Indy Lights.

Rob Mingay is the Seymour resi-
dent who decided to put North
Vancouver's name on the line carlier

Sports Car Club Of America.

“It’s competitive. The cars are
very fasi, and it’s becoming a recog-
nized international series. Some of
the best drivers around have passed
through this class,” says Mingay.

Mingay, a 42-year-old manage-
ment consultant in the field of strate-
gic planning and pvolic policy, has
been racing for the last eight years.

“I figured I- was getting on,” he
laughs. “I was a fan as a kid and one
day | realized that if I didn’t get on
and do it, I'd never do it.”

Mingay learned the ropes at Ross
Bentley’s ProFormance racing

Fonmula Fords as an amateur.

Last year, racing with his former
tutor, Bentley, he finished 2nd in the
24-hour race at Daytona.

Mingay decided to start his own
team this year after years of running
under someone else’s program.

“I had no control over the prepa-
ration of the car, testing and the hun-
dred other details that make a front-
running team.”

The car was bought in April and
is, like the others in this class, an
open-cockpit, full-bodied racer on a
Swift DB2 chassis powered by a 2-
