- Mooning madness

COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, Minneso-
la — In June. two men, aged 18 and
19, outside the Tasty Pizza late one
night, turned their backs to the front
window, dropped their pants, and
mooned the patrons. Apparently
upset that they were not being
noticed, the duo began jumping up
and down. One of the two lost his
balance, fell into the window,
breaking it, and cutting his buttocks
and several fingers.

Fairfax, Virginia — Thomas A.
Dietrich, 31, pleaded guilty to sexu-
al battery on eight girls in June after
police discovered that he had been
using the demonstrator video cam-
era in the appliance showroom
where he worked to videotape him-
self fondling the girls.

The salesman had approached
them on the pretense of showing
them how the camera worked while
their parents were shopping just a
few feet away in the store.

London. England — The City
Diary recently reported that
Member of Parliament Tony Benn
is promoting the release of his cas-
sette diaries.

Due to appear in an Oxford
Street bookstore to sign copies of
the tapes, Benn was surprised to
read an announcement in a local
paper that he would be “singing
copies of this taped diaries” for the
public’s benefit.

A thief in Antwerp recently sued
the man whose gas station he ripped
off in 1997,

The owner shot the robber in the
shoulder, but know finds himself on
the wrong end of a US330,000 legal
ection, Fifteen different attempts
have been made to try the cause,
because the thief repeatedly fails to
show.

On the last occasion, however,
he at least had a good excuse: he
was in prison on a robbery charge

Hamden, Connecticut — In
April, the Board of Education met
in-a private session to discuss the
drunk-driving guilty plea that had
been entered by superintendent of
schools David W. Shaw two days
earlier.

At the meeting, board members
reviewing previously undisclosed
police records learned that in his
arrest photo,

Shaw was wearing men's pants
but blue cye shadow, a gold lame
blouse, a string of black beads and a
ladies’ undergarment.

Shaw blamed the incident on
alcohol, which he said caused him
to mistake an adult bookstore for a
convenience store when he needed
to buy cigarettes.
