This was his first newspaper job, and his skills as a photojour- nalist grew with the company. “I fearned on the job — the fastest way to learn.” Peters, now a 16-time winner in newspaper photography competi- tions, took over the duties of department manager three years after he started with the News. “Working here has given me a chance to see and do things that aren't accessible to the public.’’ A few years ago, Peters was in- Photocraft | HOUR vited to ride with the Snowbirds as they prepared for the Ab- botsford Air Show. That flight gave him the front-page photograph for the next edition. And, with a British father and wife, he said he was thrilied to meet Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip on one of their visits to British Columbia.
