36 - Friday, February 1, 1991 -— North Shore News Weather affects overpass construction DESPITE BEING delayed by bad weather in December and January, construction on the $22-million Lons- dale-Upper Levels Highway interchange project should be complete in August, two months ahead of schedule, project manager Lee Martel has said. The construction work, which is being done by Langley-based Miller Con- tracting Ltd., came to a halt in December when snow storms struck the North Shore. But Martel said the con- tractor is now back at work and that ‘the’s got some clean up work to do before he can start paving." “He needs about three weeks of good weather be- fore he can start paving,’’ Martel said. **Weather per- mitting, I guess it should be complete in August.*’ He added that despite the weather-related work stop- page last month, Miller Contracting is about two months ahead of schedule. Transportation and high- ways ministry regional director Dave Cunliffe said his ministry had expected the work to be interrupted during the winter months. ‘*The weather very definitely affected the work. But we anticipate that we'll Jose between four and six weeks from November,"” said Cunliffe. ‘‘That weather we had in December was not very good road building weather.*” Construction on the overpass ground to a halt last February, again due to bad weather. At that time, the construction project was two months behind sched- ule. “MYRNA HOWARD 925-1441 987-6930 105 KAPILANO 100 PARK ROYAL SOUTH WEST VANCOUVER TWO NEW HOMES SEMI-WATERFRONT ON CUL-DE-SAC $688,000 4257 and 4263 EVERGREEN AVENUE © Luxury living at its very best ' * Glorious 18° high foyer andliving § room © 4 bedrooms all ensuite ¢ Master bdrm has gas FIP, ensuite with jacuzzi and sep. shower ® Beautiful gourmet kitchen with ee : mf Se, a large eating area —— . oe meee © No expense spared on these NEWS photo Mike Wakeliald : . distinctive residences.
