Former Torontonian praises effort

Dear Editor:

I have been reading articles and
letters complaining about North
Vancouver District snow clearing
and handling services and I think
these negative citizens are way off
base.

Our family has just moved to

West Vancouver from Toronto,
and of course we are very happy to
have left many of the ills of
““Hogtown"’ behind. One of the
problems is the inconvenience of
snowy winter streets.

OPEN LETTER TO NORTH VANCOUVER DISTRICT MAYOR
MARILYN BAKER

Our family and neighbors wish to register utmost dissatisfaction with
the way snow clearing was handled (not handled would be more ap-
propriate) in our area.

No attempt was made until Feb. 9 to clear Sandingham, Braemar,
Evergreen, Norwood, Calder, Mahon to name but a few of the streets.

Quite apart from the fact that we all have to make our way to work,
the significance of the streets named above is that they are the major ac-
cess routes to an elementary and a high school.

Friends from other areas of the district tell similar tales so that an ex-
cuse of having to deal with priorities does not wash. From our perspec-
tive there was simply no effort made.

We have all recently suffered very substantial tax increases, increases
that go far beyond the inflation rate and therewith normal municipal cost
escalation. The experience this week adds insult to injury.
