| Woman charged with theft A 24-YEAR-OLD Burnaby woman appeared Tuesday in North Vancouver provincial court to face charges of defrauding a North Vancouver company of over $90,000, Caro! Lea McConnell, a secretary and book-keeper with a North Vancouver consulting engineering firm, was originally charged with theft over $1,000 and fraud in connection with incidents alleged to have occurred from Jan. 1, 1987 to June 27, 1988 in which cheques totalling $91,638.71 were allegedly drawa on the account of her employer and issued to her. / = The victim company, Jones Kwong Kishi, contacted North Van- couver RCMP July 1, after the company discovered several cancelled company cheques missing from jits financial records. Subsequent’ investigation revealed that over 40 cheques bad been negotiated without compaay authorization. / McConnell was emp!oyed with the victim, company until June 30. Appearing before Judge J.B. Paradis, MicConnell was remanded to Nov. 30 for a continuation of a preliminary hearing into the - charges. . H f RCMP on prowl for cat burglar NORTE VANCOUVER RCMP are on the prow! for a cat burglar who recently burglarized two North Vancouver residences and | asszulted the occupants. . The offences occurred in the 300-block of East 5th Street and the 200-block of East Third Street. The suspect is described as a white male, between 20 and 30 years of age, and of medium height and build. Information may be forwarded to the North Vancouver RCMP at 985-1311. Owner fined for loose dogs A COQUITLAM man pleaded guilty in West Vancouver provincial court Wednesday to letting his dogs run at large in the municipali- ty. . Three Springer spaniets were running at large in the eastbound lanes of the 3300-block of the Upper Levels Highway at approx- imately 8 a.m. Aug. 16. . One of the dogs was struck by a car travelling east. The impact resulted in a four-car coliision. West Vancouver Police estimate an average $500 damage to each vehicle involved in the mishap. The dog hit by the cur died. The two remaining canines were taken to the SPCA. : Dog owner Frank W. Judge was fined $75.
