28 ~ Sunday, March 27 . 1988 - North Shore News BUSINESS PACIFIC CONNECTION Local firms make contacts From page 27 This year two North Vancouver companies participated, hot on the heels of last year's pilot program, which included local business con- necting with Pacific Rim trade counterparts. Mark and Ramona Duncan, owners of Supernatural Plants Inc., have connected with 3D Cor- peration in Thailand to import to Canada astificial plants, trees and hand-wrapped silk flowers. Dan McMahon of Reflective Solutions Ltd. has been paired with Robert Cheng and his Philip- pines-based company, Ty Market- ing. _ McMahon distributes Silverlux, a 3M flourescent light reflector product. Cheng is looking for high-tech energy savers to sell in his country. McMahon's product maximizes the efficiency of a flourescent light fixture by redirec- ting lost light, resulting in 50 per cent energy cost savings. The two are still trying to ham- ‘mer out an appropriate deal, but ‘said McMahon, ‘‘There is a tremendous potential in the Philippines because of the high cost of energy there.” Supernatural’s Ramona Duncen is equally enthused with her new contact. Her company set up in 1986 to specialize in ‘interior landscaping using silk plants and ‘silk floral arrangements.” . “The silk flowers from 3D are high quality and hand made. We'll have our own supply line rather ‘than through a wholesaler,’ Dun- can said. As well as eventually ex- - panding her retail Jevel business with ‘more outlets, Duncan will be ’ -wholesaling for 3D across Canada and hopes to move on to cover.the 5 - northwest United .
