Rover operations supervisor © -Peter Simon said the submersible Can-Dive has thus far built only one Rover, which is currently be- ing leased to various research companies. Cost to lease it for a day is $1,800. The Rover is powered by two sets of lead-acid batteries and has a top speed of one knot. Its life sup- pert system can keep a man alive for a week. A life-sized model of the Rover is currently on display at the Canada Pavilion. First impression Salons 1256 Lynn Valley Rd. was developed over two years ago at a cost of $1.5 million. A Californian engineer came up with the Rover’s basic design and Can-Dive refined and built the sub at its Halifax facility. Its clear acrylic hull.and its pair of dexterous robotic arms place the Rover at the forefront of what is already an extremely eclectic and highly technical market. “It has 360-degree visibility,” ‘fand, despite its complexity, it is very easy to use.
