Remember when the first airplane hijack stories came out? It seemed that suddenly there were hijackings every week. Van break-ins 4 HOME ENTERTAINMENT equipment ranging from video cassette recorders to stereo sets continue to be popular targets for thieves breaking into houses in West Vancouver. Break-ins reported to West Vancouver police during the past week include those in the: ® 1000-biock Groveland between 9:30 a.m. April 28 and 6 p.m. on April 30 when thieves entered through a cat door and then used garden shears to cut through a lock. Thieves stole a television, telephones, jewelry and other items, worth a total of $3,300. No one has yet been arrested but police have recovered $2,500 worth of the stolen goods. ° oc Reith Road between 3 and 9:50 p.m on April 30 when the door to the house was pried open. Thieves stole a television and video cassette recorder worth $1,500. © 900-block Groveland at 8:30 p.m. when a youth tried to enter a vacant house. He was scared off by a real estate agent. Nothing was stolen. * 6300-biock Bay Street between 12:30 and 10:30 a.m. on April 28 when thieves attempted to pry open the door to a restaurant but were unsuccessful. © Sewell’s Marina between April 15 and April 22. Thieves stole a custom-made flying bridge cover, an anchor, a cooler, bumpers and rods and reels with a total of $900. ¢ 4000-block Rose Crescent between April 15 and = and April 19. There was no sign of forced entry.
