Teachers’ Federa- tion won’t get any sup- port from the West Vancouver School Board, despite the vocal protests of trustee Margot Furk. Furk’s motion, which asks the Minister of Education to remove the principals from the BCTF, was narrowly defeated last Monday night with board chairman Dawn Sikula casting the deciding vote. Furk pleaded with the board to clarify ‘‘the role of administration”’ in the school district. ‘*And the only way to achieve that is to remove them from the BCTF,’’ Furk said. Furk also accused the BCTF executive of being “*radical and left wing.’’ MARGOT FURK ... bids fail “Before you buy... ’ Read On!”’ We are moving. They protected the buildings and the students.”’ Furk believed that remov- ing the principals and vice principals would have a ‘‘substantial’’ negative effect on the BCTF. ‘‘It would have a devasta- ting effect on all of their left- leaning executive, it would weaken the BCTF by cutting their budget,’’ Furk said. Trustee Fran McDowell spoke against the motion, saying that there were better alternatives. McDowell said the board should look at the Ontario model which speci- fies that principals could not participate in strikes. complete: withy frame heater mattress, Her odeck ane standard pedestal from only $189.
