RACCOONS have been
accused of killing pets,
raiding gardens, and even
biting people in West
Vancouver.

Council received a letter
from Clara Hucal, who lives
near Hays Park, saying her
Abbyssinian cat had been
killed by the raccoons and at
least two other cats had been
injured or killed by them.

She asked council to clear
the heavy underbrush in the
park where the animals live.

Alderman Gordon
Rowntree agreed that the
problem is at its “worst for
many years.”

He said citizens should be
reminded not to leave pet
food or even water outside
their homes and should not
