Ford sales up, losses down

OAKVILLE, Ont. (UPC)
The Ford Motor Company
of Canada __s reported
1982 first-quarter con-
solidated net sales of $1.2
billion, up $75 million from
the first quarter in 1981.

In the first three months of
1982, the company had a
consolidated loss before tax
of $17 million, compared
with a loss before tax of $49
million in 1981, the company
reported in a statement.

Ford incurred ai 1982
consolidated loss after tax in
the first quarter of $43
million, compared with a
loss of $55 million in the first
three months of 1981.

Sales by Canadian
operations in the = first
quarter were $876 million,
down $19 million from 1981.
Ford Canada incurred an
after-tax loss of $70 million
in the quarter compared
