The. theft of wallets and people who are.not invited,

purses at West Vancouver
parties has reached serious
proportions and is getting
worse, according to a West
Vancouver Police
spokesman.

The spokesman said there
has been a rash of such thefts
recently, and with
graduation parties coming
up, he said the situation will
become worse.

, Graduation parties in
West Vancouver can often
involve between 70 and 150
people, he said, and with
that many people the in-
cidence of theft is likely to
be high.

definitely with the people
holding the parties to protect
the valuables of their guests,’
the spokesman said.

‘Axeman gets five years

A 30-year-old man has
been sentenced to five years
imprisonment for attacking a
woman in a Lynn Valley
home last year, with an axe.

Robert Elmer Thompson
_ of Nakusp was found guilty
“ May 29 of attempting to
murder 33-year-old Marie
Jessie Freake.

Thompson was sentenced

- Friday, in Vancouver.

Freake had been attacked
while sleeping in bed at 3638
Baird Road, on February 8,
1978. She was struck over
the head repeatedly with an
axe.

She was unconscious for
three weeks following the
