On January 20th at 1:30 pm a resident of the 600 block West 17th observed a white van drive into his neighbours’ driveway. He saw two males get out and walk to the rear of the house, while one of them put something (socks) on his hands. They broke a window to get inco the house. He was on the 911 line very quickly. The first police cruiser arrived right away. The officer took cover as he waited for backup. Soon some plain clothes officers arrived to cover the rear of the house. When one of the suspects came out of the house and appreached the van, Cst. Whalen moved in and made the arrest. The second suspect, seeing what was happening, decided it was time co run out the back. He didn’t ger far. The plain clothes officers caught him as he was hopping fences. Officers began checking the van. As in most cases, it was stolen, just a few hours before from the Metro Town area in Burnaby. All sorts of stolen property was recovered. ‘Questions?
