TRAFFIC
REPORT

A TOTAL of 64 accidents
were reported to North
Vancouver RCMP for the peri-
od March 2 to March 8.

Of these, 53 involved property
damage while I{ concerned
injuries involving 13 individuals,

The main three causes of ali 64
incidents are: follewing too close;
failing to yield; and unsafe lane
changes. Speed aso played a role
‘n all the accidents.

Numerous corplaints continue
to be received by the RCMP traffic
divi sion regarding speeding vehi-
cles in the following North
Vancouver streets:

East 29th Street;

@ East 3rd Street; |

@ East and West ()
Keith Road;

F) Mount Seymour Parkway.

As a result of these complaints,
these areas, as well as others, are
being strictly enforced by the
RCMP.

Most of these arterial roads trav-
el through residential areas and

there is public concern for local
residents’ safety.

Another area of complaints are
school zones, The main complaint
is double parking and congestion.
In a no-stopping area, it is egal to
stop and unfoad children or pick up
children at school, Double parking
is also illegal.

Main thoroughfares such as East
3rd St. Lynn Valley Road, Mount
Scymour Parkway, East Keith Rd.,
Belbrook Ave., and West Queens
Rd. continue to be high-speed
areas. The maximum speed
throughout North Vancouver City
and District, including these areas,
is 50 km/h, unless otherwise post-
ed,

are currently using the state-of-the-
art equipment extensively.

In the City and District of North
Vancouver, main thoroughfares
tend to travel through residential
areas, thus causing greater concern
for police, as the accident potential
is increased.
